In-Home Volunteer Visitation Training
Beit Natan’s Tomchim program matches terminally ill patients with volunteers, with the goal to nurture relationships with the patient and family so as to provide needed help and assistance.
Tomchim (in-home visitation) Volunteer Training is conducted by health professionals. Volunteers are interviewed, fill out a pre-knowledge questionnaire, and then participate in a 25-hour intensive training which includes topics such as pain management and palliative care, role-playing, communication tools, and death and bereavement.
Volunteers generally devote between 2-4 hours weekly (depending on the family’s need and the volunteer’s ability).
